What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is the branch of medical science which emphasizes treatment of various Musculoskeletal, Neurological, Cardio-Pulmonary, Sports, and Obstetrics & Gynecological based disorders by means of physical Exercies & Application of Electrotherapeutic modalities in order to relieve symptoms & promote functional independence to improve quality of life.

History

The earliest documented origins of actual physical therapy as a professional group date back to per Henrik Ling, "Father of Swedish Gymnastics", who founded the Royal Central Institute of Gymnastics(RCIG) in 1813 for massage, manipulation, and exercise.

A Professional Journey in Physiotherapy

The Bachelor of Physiotherapy (B.P.T.) is an undergraduate professional programme designed to develop competent physiotherapists with strong theoretical knowledge, practical skills and clinical experience.

The course structure at SLNG covers 4 years of academic education followed by a 6-month internship, making the overall programme approximately 4½ years.
